Vejigantes
Carnival and Easter are well past this year, but the figure of the Vejigante is popular year 'round. You might consider a vejigante mask and costume for Halloween - and that requires some advance planning. Here's an overview of the Vejigante....

Travelling
Traveling is a passion for me, and I will be out of the office for the next 10 days. I almost hesitate to tell you that I will be in Cuba.
Over the years, we have heard from many Cuban customers - most have had nothing positive to say about Fidel's fiefdom, though many have good memories of times before. We have had customers return books, because in a picture of an interior of a house in Havana their appeared a portrait of Fidel hung on the wall (of the house in the picture).
We became quite sensitized to the issue, wishing to respect their feelings. Additionally, here in Puerto Rico we have many Cuban friends, and even they have mixed feelings about our taking this trip. And they haven't been shy about telling us how they feel. Some are glad - some are mad. No one seems to be just lukewarm.
Stay tuned. I'll tell you more about the trip when I get back.

An Exciting Offer!
At least, we hope you think this is an exciting offer - It is the first really good one we have had in while!
Can you see the word CAFE spelled out on these jars? It is spelled out on each jar! Hand-painted, these Taino symbols approximate letters we recognize and used to create the decoration for these one liter glass jars with clamp down lids (complete with rubber gasket) to lock in the freshness of the coffee you buy from Isla!
They are pricey! But you can get one for free when you start a four unit coffee club subscription.
Our coffee clubs are designed to give you automatic delivery of just the right amount of coffee (what you can consume in a month) of the coffee you like best...Start a new subscription and continue it for at least 8 months and you can get one of these great looking jars. If you start a four unit per month club (any coffee), the jar is yours FREE. If you start a one or two unit per month subscription, there is a co-pay.
Take a couple minutes and read about the offer.

Somethings for Valentines' Day
As we do for every holiday and special event, we have re-created some special offerings for Valentines" Day.
We have added free Valentines' bows to our customer's favorite cookies. Not much, granted, but it is free! Here's an inexpensive option for a teacher, a colleague at work, maybe an in-law. It is a cellophane bag (with white hearts and a red bow) filled with cookies and Puerto Rican Lollipops. It comes wrapped and ready to give.
We have dressed up our newest gift set for Valentine's day, too. This is a product that I really like! The mug is decorated with the logo of the antique coffee brand, and comes packaged with a bag of this very special, limited edition, premium coffee. This is the coffee from the same finca that was used to make this brand 100 years ago. It is unique and has a great story. (This comes gift wrapped in a red box.)
We have also resuscitated a big favorite, our Expresso Lovers' Gift Set. The grecas (coffee pots) have been hard to find but we recently found a source and now we can offer this again. It comes pre-wrapped - the pot and the 4 oz trial size bag of Yaucono - by far the best selling coffee we have.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Our Beautiful Island!
One of the best parts of my job is that living in Puerto Rico, it gives me the opportunity to go around the island and explore. Recently, I renewed my love affair with the area around Rincon. I wrote a long description of my weekend in Rincon on my travel blog (jetsytravels.com) but I still want to post some of the pictures I took. I hope you like them!
