Isla Artists Win Awards in The US and Puerto Rico

One of Luís F. Rodriguez’s paintings was recently selected for the 2008 Hispanic Alliance of Tampa Bay Calendar. Gloria E. Barreto won 2nd Place Ribbon in the 2007 Hispanic Heritage Poster contest. She also recently won the Westshore Alliance Banner contest. (If you are in the Tampa area look for three of her paintings on 8 foot banners along Boy Scout Avenue, and then at the Tampa International Airport during the last 6 months of 200). Artist Lucy Llera, of San Antonio, TX, was nominated this month for a 2008 United Way Volunteer of the Year Award in the category for “Service Award – Individual Arts and Culture Organization”. And in Puerto rico, the Asociación de Acuarelistas recently dedicated an exhibition at the Colegio de Ingenieros to artist Barbara Z. Pecce recognizing her dedication to the art of watercolor; her vision, leadership, discipline and ethics for achieving excellence.
